JUNIOR SWIM

Strive Junior Swim is an alternative environment for our Island children and young people to develop lifelong relationships with water.  Our non-competitive program places water safety, confidence and competence at its core, and uses water sports to bring swimming to life.

ABOUT STRIVE JUNIOR SWIM

Our Junior Swim was born from experience.  As young swimmers, we remember a lack of options for us as non-competitive children. We remember falling out of love with the swimming pool and reaching an age where body confidence (a lack of it) was the final straw.  It took us years to find our love for swimming again, which came through triathlon in our 20s.

Our Junior Program blends Learn To Swim with skills, experiences and techniques we know are vital for Island children, and help us to nurture lifelong relationships with swimming for any child and young person who loves being in water.

OUR APPROACH TO SWIM TEACHING

Over 10 years, we have developed a unique approach to equip young swimmers (6-16) with all of the aquatic skills and fitness needed for them to safely and fully embrace our Island’s aquatic playground and to keep them loving swimming for longer.

  • We build Water Safety into all elements of our curriculum, and structure our swimming 'Terms' around themes, including the Open Water, that help to expose young people to a variety of skills.

  • We keep group sizes capped to make sure lanes are not overcrowded, and all young people receive quality coaching, and have time to practice and develop.

  • We pride ourselves on creating fun, inclusive and empowering spaces for young people to learn, try something new, build fitness and stamina, and make new friends.

OUR PROGRAMME

Our swimming syllabus aligns with the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ Framework but with additional levels of skills and experiences that we believe are essential for our Island children, and breaks the mould of more traditional swimming 'lessons'.

Our swimmers are exposed to water safety throughout the program and also get to learn skills from a wide range of aqua sports, including open water swimming, triathlon, water polo and surfing. We believe this elevates our programme above others, and helps keep young people swimming for longer.

For teens and adolescents (14+), more advanced sessions keep them feeling challenged and inspired, including open water sessions in the summer months.
